Follow me on my journey as I perfect the old art of making bricks. I will be making fired natural clay bricks, tiles, and even compressed earth bricks or "CEB"s. Much of what I make will be for projects around home that I have dreamt up over time. I offer to make for you bricks with your name on them for a small cost as well. I may from time to time stray to some of my other creations that I think you may find of interest also. Please leave a comment for me about what you find here.

Making clay firebricks.
My oldest son William has joined me making bricks. I have contracted out to him the job of making the firebricks for my wood heat boiler. He has done a pretty good job for a near 16 year old kid. Using only a shovel, wheelbarrow, mixer and hand mold, he has made me 60 of these so far.

Refractory and fire clay mortar are often used to join fire brick together. Ordinary Portland cement mortar is also used, but common mortar cannot withstand extreme temperatures; as a result, many building codes require the use of refractory mortar.
