Got myself an electric kiln!

Hey I found a great deal on an old Duncan electric kiln off of craigslist. So now I have this to play with too. Yippie!!!!!

    Sorry it has been a while since I last left a comment, I have been really busy getting an exhibition together, but I have been following what you have been up to. Looks a nice kiln, and I am sure you will have fun with it. I was looking at the broken firebrick down near the bottom of the kiln and the element that is out of its groove. I don't know if you will have had to do things to electric kiln elements before (if you have you will already know this), but you can bend elements back into grooves and so on if you need to, but you do have to heat them red hot first and do any bending whilst they are hot. You will find them really brittle at room temperature and they break if you try to do anything with them. I bend my ones using an electric hot air gun, but a small gas torch would be much better. Looks like you are having a lot of fun with the clay tiles.

  2. the kiln looks like it is in good shape, good find, I am looking at a couple of used kilns right now myself.
